On Houses is your home from home in Sri Lanka, and from poolside to rooftop our beautiful houses have lots of space to relax in. Here are some activities you can enjoy in your house, and in the local area.

BIKE RIDES

A wonderful way to get around and explore the neighbouring countryside is by bicycle. The activity centre located on the beach road in front of On Houses, offers bikes you can either hire to explore on your own, or guided local bike rides. Cross the main road and head inland to reveal the hidden world set back from the beach, a world of lush green paddy fields, wallowing buffalo, leafy laneways and languid village life.

COOKING WITH YOUR CHEF

We have three very talented Chefs here at On Houses, whose culinary delights you will enjoy throughout your stay. If you are interested in cooking, the house kitchen and your private chef are yours to use as you like. Feel free to come and go from the kitchen as you please, cook your own food or watch your chef at work and ask questions. If you would like to learn some Sri Lankan cooking, like curries or hoppers, speak to your Butler or the General Managers who can arrange this with our Head Chef in your house kitchen.

YOGA

Yoga is the Hindu practice of physical, mental, and spiritual discipline, originating in ancient India. Unsurprisingly, given its proximity, Sri Lanka is home to some of the best yoga retreats and yoga is practiced widely across the island, whose scenery, sunshine and serenity provide the perfect setting for beginners to seasoned yogis.

Our beautiful houses are ideal for enjoying yoga in the comfort and privacy of your own house. Whether it’s a relaxing session at sunset on the rooftop terrace or an invigorating sunrise session in your garden or by your pool, we can organise private in-house yoga sessions for any number of people with excellent local instructors who we work with regularly. Speak to your Butler or the General Managers who will be happy to arrange this for you.

BEACHES

Iconic stilt fisherman, brightly painted boats, coconut-ladened palms and swathes of golden sand make the beaches around On Houses some of the finest in Sri Lanka. We have several favourites, starting North of Galle at Hikkaduwa and moving South and East to Tangalle. We have a full book of recommendations and directions at your disposal in the living room of your house.
